20 Years of People Search

Things have changed a lot online since we first started. So much so that some people think there’s no real need for a site like this nowadays, and they couldn’t be more wrong.

1998 was when the first of our people search pages went online, and in 2004 PeopleSearch.com.au was born. It was the first standalone site dedicated to locating people in Australia, as well as to help find Australians abroad. And whilst there was no real use of social media of note back then, there were also less privacy concerns.

What we do works on different levels and goes places that people don’t consider. The Deep Web makes up the core of resources found here and search engines can’t crawl them. It’s hidden behind forms, so unless you think to look there, chances are you won’t. We also come from an investigative background, and those in the industry aren’t hired to locate someone when a quick Facebook search will do. Hence we cover a wide range of topics as there’s no one size fits all approach. Every search is different. Some easy, some extremely difficult.

“The Deep Web makes up the core of resources”

In saying that, 2025 sees the release of a brand new site, with a new look, and plenty of new modern resources. We’ve also re-established the free People Finder Register to help out those looking for someone. The Find People in Australia FAQ is being updated and there’s plenty of information now within each topic. Best of all you can still access most of the resources online so you don’t have to leave your home.

We hope you enjoy and be sure to visit again soon.

Find ways of finding people you never knew existed.

It seems simple these days. Visit your favourite search engine and type in someone’s name. And voila, a myriad of results and amongst them hopefully the person you are trying to locate. If that doesn’t work, try Facebook and other forms of social media. But what happens if they are not easy to find? What are your next steps?

This is where the deep web comes to the forefront. There are literally billions of records online that can not be indexed by search engines. These records sit behind paywalls, buried in databases, and even the dark web (not advisable). It is estimated that not even 1% of all internet content is readily accessible by search engines. Amongst these sources are countless details and records useful for finding people.

You’ll find many starting points for accessing these records through peoplesearch.com.au. Which ones you choose, and how you approach your search, all depends on the information you have at hand. Start by browsing relevant topics to discover ones relevant to your search.

Get active with your search and register your details and those you are looking for in the “People Finder” Registry.

It’s free to register, free to make contact, free to post photos; in fact it’s 100% FREE.

We have started an FAQ on How to find people in Australia.

PeopleSearch.com.au was established as a guide for investigative professionals. Tracking down someone that does not want to be found isn’t always simple. It requires information, and usually more than a generic search engine or social media search can provide.
