People Search Review: Aussie Investigator

You may have been tempted to try the web based ‘Aussie Investigator’ service with its claims of “find your Aussie mates” and “instant access to HUGE online resources”. My advice, based on trialling the service, is to keep your money in your pocket.

The service is sold through a variety of web sites, including those on vianet.net.au, and aussie2find.com, and is provided by Metro Flow Creative, a Western Australian based business.

I was appalled at the lack of resources made available to those who shell out $17 (apparently it’s soon to be $29.97) for this service. Approximately 36 links in total are provided for your hard earned, with many of those irrelevant (CIA, FBI, anti-spyware, terrorism psychology), or leading to further fee based services including private investigators and international people finder software. Those that were relevant are widely known and available elsewhere for free (White Pages, Yahoo!).

What can be considered sleazy sales tactics are used to promote this service. The claim of “instant access to HUGE online resources” is deceptive, as the Aussie Investigator service itself is miniscule. Off site resources such as the White Pages however are certainly huge, if that’s what they are indeed describing.

After paying for the service, you are bombarded inside with sales pitches for “How to build a massive mailing list”, “How to double your online sales”, “How to make web pages that are ranked in the top 10 at Google and Yahoo!”, and more. I’m still not sure what these have to do with finding people, but perhaps their logic is that if you were gullible enough to purchase the Aussie Investigator service, then you’re gullible enough to continue lining their pockets.

I found this service extremely disappointing, and highly recommend that you look elsewhere for answers to your people search.
