Professional Australian and International People Search Services
There are individuals, companies, and organisations in Australia that can provide you with assistance when searching for someone. Some do this as a business, and are paid for their time and expertise. Other organisations operate globally and provide tracing and social services free of charge thanks to government funding or donations. The term professional in relation to people tracing doesn’t always mean there’s a fee involved. Someone may be paying for the service, but it’s not always the recipients.
Selecting the right organisation to assist
Each organisation is setup to handle specific styles of people search. Some specialise in adoption, others in international support and can assist when families are separated through wars or natural disasters.
The Salvation Army was one organisation that previously offered family tracing services, but they have stopped support in this area. Unfortunately this has left a gap when looking for family members you have lost touch with.
Options now include the hiring or a private investigator or performing the search yourself. Take note though that not all investigators are competent with tracing people. Think of Investigators as similar to lawyers, you wouldn’t hire a specialist contract lawyer to defend a murder case. And the same applies with finding people and investigators, so choose wisely.
